Fred Forsley here. You might know me as the co-founder and president of Shipyard Brewing Company. What you might not know is, I’m someone who has been affected by the disease multiple sclerosis. I grew up watching my mother live with MS and let me tell you, she NEVER let it hold her back. Agnes Forsley was a dynamic, kind, giving person. She was a wife, mother of five, and even ran a boarding house for military veterans.
She never let MS define her.
Neither does my brother Richard, who was diagnosed with the disease about 30 years ago.
New Limited Release Tequila Barrel Aged Summer Ale
Thursday, June 4, 2015
The Shipyard Brew Crew is at it again. The idea of Shipyard Estival was born on a late winter day in Maine when the Brew Crew was longing for summer and had just begun their first batch of this year’s Shipyard Summer Ale. The brewers decided to fill several French oak tequila barrels with this first brew of Summer Ale and after two months of aging, the result was Estival.
This limited release brew is an ode to summer in Maine and pairs well with sunshine, beaches and yard games. This beer is best enjoyed on a patio with a lime wedge. It will be available in Maine only, on draft and in 12 oz bottles, at select retailers and at the Shipyard Brewery Store on Newbury Street in Portland.
Shipyard Brewing Company wishes Chamberlain Pale Ale a very happy 20th birthday. Chamberlain Pale Ale is a seasoned member of the Shipyard lineup and was first brewed in 1995 by master brewer, Alan Pugsley.
Chamberlain Pale Ale is dry and crisp up front with an aromatic hoppy finish featuring Fuggles, Cascade and Tettnang Hops. This classic English style ale is available year-round, and is named after renowned Civil War hero Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain. Chamberlain Pale Ale is best paired with seafood, and is especially tasty when enjoyed with a hearty fillet of salmon.
The smooth, drinkable, cooper ale is best served cold on a warm day during the spring and summer months. Chamberlain Pale Ale is available on draft and in 6-and 12-packs at select retailers.
In honor of the unique seafaring heritage off the coast of Florida, Shipyard Brewing Company is partnering with Mel Fisher's Treasures to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Atocha Mother Lode find.
Mel Fisher's Treasures is a historic shipwreck recovery effort based in Key West, Florida that organizes a multi-day celebration every summer in honor of Key West's renowned treasure hunter, Mel Fisher. The Mel Fisher Days festivities were created in an effort to give back to the island that Fisher called home and which supported him during his 16-year search for the Mother Lode.
Shipyard Brewing Company’s nautical ties and traditions and its similar commitment to give back to the communities that support it, made involvement in the Mel Fisher Days a natural fit.
Shipyard Brewing Company has partnered with the American Tailgating League (ATL) to bring you the Shipyard Brewing Company National Championships of Bags Tournament (COBS). Each location will feature ‘bring your own partner’ tournaments, a blind-draw match up, and singles competitions with a guaranteed cash prize pool.
States competing in this national tournament include: Florida, Maine, Ohio, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, with more states to follow. The local series of tournaments in each state will commence in State Championships in August, followed by National Championships taking place August 28-30th in Mooresville, NC – just outside of Charlotte.
Shipyard Brewing Company and Sea Dog Brewing Company have partnered with the crew of Scuba Nation to support Lionfish Awareness Day on May 16 through various events taking place across the state of Florida. The state wide effort is aimed at eradicating this invasive species of fish that is wreaking havoc with Florida’s native species.
Shipyard and Sea Dog’s commitment to sustainable seafood and efforts to give back to the communities that support us continues beyond this day in mid-May. Scuba divers are doing their part to catch this fish — and now we’re doing our part to help bring this fish to the table.
